How to prioritize when everything is important

Read why more discussions do not always increase clarity about what to prioritize - and how criteria enable you to clearly distinguish between initiatives, and provide you with the assurance that you are making the right choices.
If you have been involved in prioritizing different projects and ideas, you may have experienced that it can be really challenging. And the more you discuss, the harder it becomes to make a choice.

Most of us believe that if we just thoroughly discuss all the topics, it will become clear what we should choose. However, there are situations where the discussion-based method is not very effective - for example, when choosing between many good initiatives. In such cases, you may find that the more you discuss, the more good reasons you find to implement everything - and the more you are convinced that everything is important.

This means that it becomes harder to agree and choose something to exclude the more you discuss. And in the end, it can result in a somewhat random prioritization. Or perhaps you end up not prioritizing at all and working a little on everything, which is neither efficient nor motivating.

You can shorten, simplify, and improve your prioritization process by using criteria. Criteria that systematically assess the value and feasibility of the initiatives. This allows you to clearly distinguish between the initiatives and provides you with the assurance that you are making the right choices. It ensures that you prioritize and focus your efforts on the initiatives that create the MOST value.

The Benelizer® solution makes it easy for you to work with criteria-based prioritization. The result is an effective strategy execution.
